Nickly Privacy Policy

Welcome to Nickly (the "App"). The App is developed and maintained independently by the developer of Nickly ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the App, on any platform where it is offered.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using the App. By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy in full.
1. Important: Your Names Stay on Your Device
No account is required. The names you type, the styles you generate, and your favorites and history are processed and stored only on your device. We never receive them, and they are never sent to advertising or analytics services.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Nickly does not collect, upload, store, or share:
- The names or text you type, or the styled results
- Your favorites, history, or editor settings
- Your name, email address, phone number, or account details
- Your precise location, contacts, photos, files, camera, or microphone
- Your payment card or billing details
3. How the App Works
- On-device processing: fancy fonts, decorations, Text Repeater, invisible characters, and name ideas are all generated locally. These features do not need a server operated by us.
- Local storage: favorites, history, onboarding status, launch count, purchase status, and temporary style unlocks are saved in the App's local storage on your device.
- Clipboard: when you tap a style, the App writes that text to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere. The App does not read your clipboard.
- Device backup: if you turn on your device's system backup, the operating system may include the App's local data in that backup. We cannot access it.
4. Advertising
The free version of the App shows ads provided by Google AdMob: an app-open ad on some cold launches, one banner on the Create screen, and optional rewarded videos that you choose to watch to unlock a premium decoration for 24 hours. Pro users see no ads.
To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- Device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language, app version, and IP address (used to infer approximate location)
- Ad interaction data, such as impressions and taps
- Your device's advertising identifier, only if your device settings and choices allow it
Your choices:
- Consent: in regions where it is required (such as the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland), the App shows a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform before ads are personalized. You can review or change your choice at any time from Privacy choices in the App's Tools tab, when that option is shown.
- Tracking permission: where the operating system requires permission before an app can use the advertising identifier for tracking, the App asks first. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on that identifier.
- Device settings: you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device's system settings at any time.
Ad content is limited to a maximum rating suitable for a general audience with parental guidance. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Analytics and Crash Reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Remote Config to keep the App stable and improve it. These services may collect:
- Usage events, such as onboarding steps, that a style was copied, paywall views, purchase results, and ad impressions or ad revenue amounts
- Crash reports, including device model, operating system version, and stack traces
- A random app-instance identifier, used to count active installs and deliver configuration settings
These events never include the names or text you type. The data is used only to fix bugs, understand which features are used, and adjust settings such as how often ads appear. See the Firebase Privacy and Security page.
6. In-App Purchases
Nickly Pro is a one-time purchase that removes ads and unlocks all premium decorations. Payments are processed entirely by the app store you downloaded the App from (for example, the Apple App Store or Google Play) under that store's terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your payment card or billing details. The App only receives confirmation of whether the purchase is valid so it can unlock Pro on your device and restore it later.
7. Permissions
- Network access: used to load ads, send analytics and crash reports, fetch configuration, and verify purchases. All name styling works offline.
- Advertising identifier / tracking permission: optional, as described in Section 4.
The App does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, photo library, or notification access.
8. Third-Party Services
The App integrates the following third-party services, all operated by Google, which process data under their own privacy policies:
- Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) and the User Messaging Platform: ads and consent
- Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Remote Config: analytics, crash reports, and configuration
We do not sell your personal information.
9. Data Retention
Data stored on your device remains there until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App. Data collected by Google services is retained according to Google's own retention policies and the settings available to us as a developer.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. Your Rights
- Delete: you can remove favorites and clear history in the App, or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data. No copy of your names exists on our side because they were never sent to us.
- Ad choices: change your consent in the App, decline tracking, or reset your advertising identifier in system settings.
- Access, correction, or other requests: depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or the CCPA), you may have additional rights. Because we do not hold an account or profile linked to you, most data related to you is held by Google; you can also contact us and we will help where we can.
- Withdraw consent: stop using the App and uninstall it at any time.
12. Policy Updates
We may update this Policy when required by law or when features change. The updated version will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, noted in the App. Material changes, such as collecting new types of data, will be brought to your attention.
